GLYN Microcontroller Evaluation Boards with OLED-Display

Brand new to our product line-up: microcontroller evaluation boards with a pluggable AM OLED display (active matrix organic light-emitting diode). The integrated 2" color display from CMEL with 220x178 pixels has a color depth of 262K.

Driving the display via GPIO-pins allows for high flexibility in programming. Standard output via ports is possible as well as use of the DMA (direct memory address) funktion of the microcontroller.
The board is plugged onto the pin strip of the microcontroller EVB. It has been designed for all pins to lead through the upper side of the display board, making measuring on all IO pins or connecting other components easy to do.

Specifications of the display boards:

  • Active Matrix
  • Color depth max. 262,000 colors
  • Display size 2“ (220x176 pixels)
  • Connection for 8-bits or 16-bits on the socket board

The board provides the necessary power supply itself, therefore the complete evaluation board (display and microcontroller unit) can be run directly via USB or E8-debugger.

GLYN now offers microcontroller evaluation boards incl. display and software for an easy start with this new technology.

The AM OLED-Display:

Temperature range:

From -20°C to +70°C
Lifetime: 20,000 to 40,000 hours (depending on type)
Viewing angle: 179°x179° (no preferential direction as with LCDs)
Opt. response time:   Max. 50µs (LCD-TFT = 20ms)
Contrast: 10,000:1
Readability:

Readability under direct sunlight is 25x better than with a transmisive TFT type due to its high color depth and the high contrast

Charging rate: Approx. half the amount of a TFT; due to intelligent image selection even better than ¼ of a TFTs.
Burn-in effect: This OLED-effect is insignificantly small due to obsolescence in production
Storage: Similar to a semiconductor; no aging in the overall temperature interval when in storage
Module thickness: Extremely thin (1.3-1.75mm) compared to an LCD-TFT
Touch: 2.4', 2.8', 3.4' and 4.3'; optionally available with analogue resistive touch screen
Availability: Several years, especially for industrial applications
