Applications

1. Time / Clock Functionality

The clock quartz crystal is used as a secondary pulse generator of the clock (Real Time Clock).

2. Low current mode of the MCU supported by a secondary crystal

Example: RENESAS H8/300H

In compact mobile applications a secondary quartz crystal is needed in addition to the accurate seconds clock.

In line with its circuit matching program Seiko Instruments provides a free service to its customers including a analysis of the circuitry, the components and its dimensioning, its layout and if applicable an optimization of the entire setup. An appropriate dimensioning of the load capacities and the serial resistance to current limitations guarantee fast onset and stable adherence to the oscillator frequency.
